Steps in the installation of MR/1 and MR/2 on a PC, 
running Windows 95, 98 or NT.

1. Run 
   mr_install 
   by double clicking or running at the command line in a DOS window.
   This is an installation script which uncompresses all the executables
   and puts them by default in the directory 
   c:\"Program Files"\MR
   You will have to create this directory if it doesn't exist already.
   Insufficient space on disk will give an error message.
   Uncompressing and copying the files takes a few minutes.
  
   You will be prompted for various things, to which you should just hit
   'return' to get the defaults.  E.g. MRA (= MR/1 and MR/2), unlimited
   usage, 1 licence, no floating licences, etc.  

   You have been given a licence key (a 20-character string) which is
   associated with (i) the above licence characteristics, and (ii) your
   machine name (which can be found in Control Panel/ Network/ 
   Identification), and hostid (which can be obtained by running the 
   program mrhost-2.0-i586_cygwin32.exe in a DOS window).  (You have 
   already given me this information.) 

   You enter this 20-character licence key string, when prompted for it.
  
   The program terminates by saying that the installation is complete, and 
   that certain programs can now be run, e.g. 
   cea_lm
   cea-lm -status
   and that you can put the PATH specification of the MR/1-2 executables
   into your startup file.  Note: cea_lm is the actual licence manager.

   You can terminate this DOS window.

2. In another DOS window, run the program
   cea_lm
   This should be left running.  You can iconize your window, leaving 
   the licence manager program running.

3. Then in another DOS window, type 
   mr_transform
   or any other command, assuming the PATH is correctly pointing to
   the directory containing the executables.

   Without any parameters, or with incorrect parameters, the possible
   parameters are listed to the screen.

   This is the command line interface.  Other interfaces are:
   - the Java graphical user interface, and 
   - using MR/1-2 from the IDL package ((c) Research Systems Inc.)
